I almost didn’t get them when I bought wheels and tires. Then I thought “fuck it, I didn’t buy !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . So what’s a few hundred bucks for shocks.” Turns out I needed a set of shocks far more than I needed wheels and tires.
The front shocks were completely dead. They didn’t even move after I compressed them. Obviously it’s a night and day difference as far as how it handles. This was also my first time working with an electric impact wrench, annnnnnd I bought one. If I use it for nothing else it’s worth it for changing out wheels. It made it super easy to get the shocks off too. I really like wrenching on this truck.
I snapped some pics and dropped it off to be aligned.

my old ones from 2010 were worse.

I had some shocks like that once. We loaded a timber mill onto my Series 3 cab chassis so I could deliver it up the valley. First decent left hand corner I went through, the truck leaned over and stayed there. The next right hander fixed it but over corrected. That pattern of behaviour stayed in place for another 10 miles...most unsettling!

You can count me shocked by your assertion, nothing will dampen my surprise.

When I bought my MR2 it had Monroe Sensatrac shocks in it. One of them was so bad that it actually “scared turtled” the rod. You could pull the rod out by hand, and it would suck back into the housing until it hit bottom.

I like the wheel and tire combo. Trucks looks better with more sidewall.

Thanks! The wheels were somewhat of a compromise because I hate chrome, but 99.9% of aftermarket truck wheels are terribly ugly and I didn’t want black wheels.

I recently replaced all 4 shocks on my 2003 Ford Explorer Sport. They had never been done and at the time it had probably 178,000 miles on it. They were just as shot. It was such an amazing difference to drive after getting them all replaced. It’s still not the best ride in the world but it’s so much better now.

I have those same wheels (or at least very similar - American Racing Baja’s) I have on my El Camino.

you can always try plastidip, comes right off if you don’t like it. I’d go with a graphite / dark grey, but i may be biased...
